Reeftip / Divebars
NEW YORK FESTIVALS. GOLD.
Bar furniture that finishes its life growing 18,000 corals on the Great Barrier Reef.
Built as a product idea, conservation platform and content engine for Reeftip.
Problem
Give people a simple way to feel they are helping the Great Barrier Reef, and make Reeftip Spiced Rum’s commitment to reef regeneration real in everyday pubs and bars.
Idea
DiveBars, a series of tropical pop ups and bar furniture sets built from lightweight aluminium mesh that could be enjoyed in venues, then deconstructed and used as coral propagation frames on the reef through Reeftip’s partnership with the Coral Nurture Programme.
How it worked
• Created Reeftip Dive Bar and Beach Bar pop ups, kitted out with the custom aluminium mesh furniture and serving Reeftip Spiced Rum
• Used the modular furniture in pubs and bars around Australia, then deconstructed each piece and redeployed it underwater as a platform to regenerate coral on selected Great Barrier Reef sites
• Worked with the Coral Nurture Programme and reef scientists to use the structures to propagate multiple coral species across key dive locations
• Captured the journey from bar to reef and seeded it on social to show people that every Reeftip poured was connected to real coral regeneration work
Results
• Helped propagate up to 32 coral species across 16 dive sites
• Contributed to more than 18,000 corals propagated through the Coral Nurture Programme
• Supported efforts to build reef resilience and scale coral replanting on the Great Barrier Reef
• New York Festivals winner
